The safety and wellbeing of our community of instructors, students and their families is very important to us. Government agencies, the CDC and the WHO are recommending that people refrain from group gatherings and close personal contact and to be practicing social distancing. We have made the very difficult decision to cancel our classes through March 31st. Please stay tuned for further updates. Keep safe!
FLAMENCOis a highly-expressive and emotional art form that sprang from the diverse cultures and civilizations that existed in the regions of Andalusia (Southern Spain). Flamenco exists in three forms: “cante” (song), “baile” (dance) and instrumental music "toque" (mostly guitar playing). These elements together give expression to the joy and sorrow of its original people, los gitanos, who were marked by oppression and persecution. Flamenco in its more modern form integrates other world cultures, including Latin American, thus continues to create a tapestry of the human experience. The Academy of Flamenco Arts is a testimonial to that, with instructors, performers and students from Argentina, Colombia, Cuba, Mexico, Peru, Russia, Venezuela and the USA.
